From Our Chief Medical Officer

A message from Julie Barnes, MD, FACP - Redmond’s Chief Medical Officer

image1I invite you to explore your future possibilities in our Internal Medicine Residency program at Redmond Regional Medical Center. Our innovative program will be searching for enterprising and engaged Medical School graduates who will embrace this exciting opportunity. Through our affiliation with Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, our stellar multidisciplinary faculty will obtain any needed additional support for the academic needs of our residents.

Our institution received accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) in 2014. Accreditation of our Internal Medicine program was approved by the American Osteopathic Association in June 2015 and by the ACGME in September 2015. Our future expansion includes development of a transitional year program in 2017, followed by a third program in 2018.

Although residency training is new to Redmond, our programs are designed and implemented by experienced faculty from renowned institutions such as University of California, Irvine, and Indiana University, thereby combining state of the art medical education with timeless clinical skills. Our teaching faculty takes great pride in how we care for patients, and we look forward to passing on these virtues to our trainees.  Our faculty practices in Rome, Georgia, and the surrounding communities. Our goal is to recruit, train, and place primary care providers in suburban and rural Georgia. We believe this program will greatly benefit our region and improve the health of our communities.

Redmond Regional Medical Center is focused on excellent clinical care with world class specialty care. We are engaged in an ambitious enterprise to train the next generation of doctors. Our training programs are coupled to parallel efforts to develop health science research and to enhance our institution’s patient care quality and safety missions.

We are excited to enroll our first MD and DO candidates in 2016 for Internal Medicine. Please explore our program online, contact our faculty members, and consider becoming a part of this remarkable moment in medical education.
