Medical College of Georgia
The Medical College of Georgia (MCG), among the nine colleges of Augusta University, offers clinical training in multiple sites across the state. The impact of Georgia’s only public medical school spans from its founding in 1828 as one of the nation’s first medical schools to its current role optimizing health care in Georgia and beyond – through education, discovery and service.
Although MCG students have been doing clinical rotations in Rome for many years, MCG formally opened its Northwest Campus here in 2013. Now 3rd and 4th year medical students are anchored in Rome and participate in their core clerkships using an innovative longitudinal curriculum. Redmond is a primary regional teaching affiliate of MCG and is the exclusive site for students’ inpatient Internal Medicine experience. The College sponsors faculty appointments and supports the Internal Medicine residency through resident and faculty development opportunities.Visit Website
Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine
Redmond Regional Medical Center has partnered with the Georgia campus of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). Redmond is a primary regional teaching affiliate of PCOM and is the site of clinical rotations for PCOM’s 3rd and 4th year students. PCOM’s OPTI not only sponsors the osteopathic portion of Redmond’s Internal Medicine Residency, but supports it by offering clinical appointments and faculty development to the osteopathic and allopathic faculty.
A premier medical school, PCOM boasts a history that spans more than 100 years and has a rich tradition of training DOs in primary and specialty care. Since 2005, the College has offered its comprehensive DO program at the Georgia Campus.Visit Website
